Mission & History

The AU Staff Association is located in the AU Headquarters. 
The Staff Association was established in 1988 and Mr. Emmanuel Kobla Atinyo founder of the African Union Staff Association served as President, for four consecutive years, until 1992.

Objectives

The AU Staff Association objectives can be summarized by the following points:

  1. Creating conducive working environment to staff
  2. Ensuring the rights of the staff
  3. Ensuring enquires of the staff are adequately and appropriately addressed.
  4. Participate in the hiring and promotion interview to ensure the recruitment process goal.
  5. Prioritizing gift items to the staff no matter their location
  6. Showcase good working practices.

Executive Committee 

AUSA’s administration is elected by African Union Commission employees for a term of two (2) years. Upon completion of their term of office, the incumbents hand over their work to the succeeding elected officers. If re-elected, the administration can serve for another term of two (2) years but the total number of service years cannot exceed four (4) years.

All members have their own duties and roles. Since, its establishment the AUSA has been working in collaboration with the management and staff of AUC.
